A message from Renée M. Amaro, Colombo Club Auxiliary President
April Fool’s Day, or Pesce d’Aprile (April’s Fish), as it’s known in Italy - because they get caught hook, line and sinker. The holiday has been around since the 14th century. Yet exclusively celebrated in the late 19th century, mostly in Genoa. Pranks and practical jokes were different in those early days. Although the tradition has expanded over time, children continue to find amusement in taping a drawing of a fish onto someone’s back whenever possible. The tradition is worth searching on the internet if you want to know more about it.
What do you call a group of bunnies hopping away from you? (a receding hareline)
What do storm clouds wear under their pants? (thunder wear) I couldn’t resist.
Last month on March 28th, the McBride School of Irish dancers who came to perform for us were the highlight of the St. Patrick’s Dinner that was chaired by Elaine Kless and Elisabeth DeRespini. The dinner was great! It was well attended, and the cooks made that meal so delicious. Together with so many gift baskets that it made it an exciting fun-filled evening. Welcome Spring! It’s such a wonderful time of year with lots of newly sprouted garden plants with Easter Sunday (April 5th) I hope you and your family will be spending quality time together while enjoying the Easter feast.
Auxiliary members – Our next meeting is on Wednesday the 15th at 6:30 pm, in the Isabella Room. This is a Spuntino to welcome all the newest members. Please come and bring your favorite dish to share. It will be fun to meet the newest members and see all of you beautiful ladies.
As always, I want to thank the volunteers, decorators and donations given to help make our dinners exceptional. Buon Compleanno to all our April-born ladies, enjoy your
birthday month.
