A message from our president
Ciao a tutti!
What a wonderful summer it has been—and there is still so much more to look forward to at the Colombo Club! August will be a busy and exciting month, so please mark your calendars and join us whenever you can.
First, a quick look back at July. In addition to our always-popular Birthday Dinners, we hosted our annual Past Presidents Dinner. It was a wonderful evening recognizing the men who have given their time, energy, and leadership to our Club through the years. The evening was a bit more formal than our June pizza party and included dinner, fellowship, and dancing. Thank you to our past presidents for their service and to everyone who attended and helped make the celebration so special.
Our August Birthday Dinners will feature our traditional Father-Daughter Nights—and everyone is welcome! This is a special opportunity to bring your daughter, granddaughter, or another important person in your life to the Club. My daughter and I looked forward to this event every year, and we created many wonderful memories together. Now, I hope to continue that tradition with my granddaughter. I encourage you to bring the whole family and create some special memories of your own.
Traditions such as Father-Daughter Night remind us that our Italian heritage is about much more than food or festivities. It is about family, friendship, hospitality, and passing meaningful traditions from one generation to the next. These values have sustained the Colombo Club for more than a century, and they remain at the heart of everything we do.
Another important event this month is our Assembly Meeting. This is an opportunity for members to hear the latest updates from the Board, welcome and induct our newest members, and bring forward questions, concerns, or ideas. Dinner will feature sausage and peppers, and I hope you will join us. Please note that reservations for this event are available online only.
We are also looking for a few dedicated members who would be willing to train to help run our always-popular Incentive Program during the Birthday Dinners. It is a great way to become involved, requires only a few hours each month, and is critically important to the financial success of our Club. Please email me if you are interested.
On Saturday, August 15, from 8:00 a.m. to noon, we will hold a Club Work Party, with lunch provided. This is a great opportunity to help spruce up our beautiful Club, meet other members, and enjoy the satisfaction of working together toward a common goal. Many hands make light work, and every bit of help is appreciated.
And finally—Christmas in August! It may seem early, but Santa’s helpers are already hard at work preparing for our Children’s Christmas Party. You will receive information through both the U.S. mail and electronically explaining how to register your children or grandchildren to receive a gift from Santa. This is one of our most beloved family traditions, and you will not want to miss it. We are also gratefully accepting donations to help support this wonderful event.
As always, if you have an idea for an event you would like to see at the Club—or would like to become more involved—please contact me at the email address below. Our Club is strongest when our members participate, volunteer, and share their ideas.
I look forward to seeing you at the Colombo Club this month!
Ci vediamo!
Joe Ianora, President
